Reprogramming to recover youthful epigenetic information and restore vision
Lu et al., 2020, Nature, 588, 124-129
【Summary】
Ageing is a degenerative process that leads to tissue dysfunction and death. A proposed cause of ageing is the accumulation of epigenetic noise that disrupts normal gene expression patterns. In the next Science Café, I would like to introduce a paper that showed expression of Yamanaka Factor in mouse retinal ganglion cells restores youthful epigenetic patterns, promotes axon regeneration after injury, and restore vision loss in a glaucoma model and in aged mice.
