"Protein crystal growth in microgravity environment"
1月11日のiPark Science Cafeでは、JAXAの山田様よりタンパク質結晶生成関連講演をして頂く予定です。
【発表概要】
・国際宇宙ステーション（ISS）を活用したタンパク質結晶生成実験についてお話します。
・微小重力環境で対流が抑制されることを活かし、ISSにおいて高品質なタンパク質結晶を生成する実験を実施しています。薬剤候補化合物等との共結晶化も可能であり、詳細な構造情報があれば、薬剤候補化合物の改良の効率化などに役立てることが可能です。
【Summary】
I will talk about protein crystal growth experiments using the International Space Station (ISS).We are conducting experiments to generate high-quality protein crystals on the ISS by taking advantage of the suppression of convection currents in the microgravity environment. Co-crystallization with drug candidate compounds is also possible, and the high resolution structural information can be used to improve the efficiency of drug candidate optimization.
